Our vineyards
Luis Zudaire is an Agricultural Engineer and Enologist, graduating from the University of Montpellier, France. After gaining experience in a number of winemaking areas around the world, such as Chile, Argentina and France, he decided to return to La Rioja Alavesa to dedicate himself fully to making the prestigious wines of Bodegas Ysios.
At Bodegas Ysios, his work is directed at producing wines which clearly express the Rioja identity whilst incorporating the latest oenological trends, such as enhancing the fruit and the complexity of the different terroirs through ageing in barrels with different types of oaks and different toasting levels. In short, Luis Zudaire is seeking to get the most out of each particular terroir and to achieve a perfect combination of hues, aromas and flavours. Pure alchemy!
At Ysios we strive to make wines which reflect the identity of the Rioja Alavesa style. We work to achieve concentrated, elegant, silky wines which are pleasant to drink and which leave us with a good feeling.
